Election commission of India has taken one of best effort to bring voter to their respective Polling stations. If you have a smartphone or a computer, you needn’t worry about locating your polling stations in upcoming elections. You need to do is use the Google Maps app on your phone to get directions to the designated polling station.

The voter will able to find the state for which maps are available and select the district, assembly constituency and polling station names from drop-down lists. One has to then click a button to see the polling station location of the selected area on the map.

YUMI – Multiboot USB Creator (Windows)

YUMI (Your Universal Multiboot Installer), is the successor to MultibootISOs. It can be used to create a Multiboot USB Flash Drive containing multiple operating systems, antivirus utilities, disc cloning, diagnostic tools, and more. Contrary to MultiBootISO’s which used grub to boot ISO files directly from USB, YUMI uses syslinux to boot extracted distributions stored on the USB device, and reverts to using grub to Boot Multiple ISO files from USB, if necessary.
Aside from a few distributions, all files are stored within the Multiboot folder, making for a nicely organized Multiboot Drive that can still be used for other storage purposes.

Creating a YUMI Multiboot MultiSystem USB Flash Drive
YUMI works much like Universal USB Installer, except it can be used to install more than one distribution to run from your USB. Distributions can also be uninstalled using the same tool!

How to Create a MultiBoot USB Flash Drive

1. Run* YUMI-0.0.4.0.exe following the onscreen instructions
2. Run the tool again to Add More ISOs/Distributions to your Drive
3. Restart your PC setting it to boot from the USB device
4. Select a distribution to Boot from the Menu and enjoy!

That’s all there is to it. You should now be booting your favorite distributions from your custom Multi-Boot USB device!

How It Works: YUMI (Your Universal Multiboot Installer) enables each user to create their own custom Multiboot UFD containing only the distributions they want, in the order by which they are installed. A new distribution can be added to the UFD each time the tool is run.
If you run YUMI from the same location you store ISO downloads, they should be auto-detected (*See Known Issues Below), eliminating the need to browse for each ISO.
VERY IMPORTANT: Windows Vista or 7 Installers will cause Ubuntu or any remix based on Ubuntu (I.E. Linux Mint) to hang during boot. A quick fix is to temporarily rename the Windows SOURCES folder found at the root of the USB device.
Other Notes: If MultibootISOs was previously used, you must reformat the drive and start over. YUMI uses Syslinux directly, and chainloads to grub only if necessary, so it is not compatible with the older Multiboot ISO tool. Although I do plan to add back the capabilities of MultibootISOs as time permits.

E-filing of I-T returns for INDIAN government Income TAX Department: It’s so simple!

You have just three more days to file your income-tax returns. If you want to do it without much bother, you should consider e-filing. It's simple if you take care of a few things.
You need to go to the website incometaxindiae-filing.gov.in and download the relevant returns form (ITR 1 to 7) based on your sources of income. For instance, if your only sources of income are salary/pension, interest income and income/loss from one house property, then you can use ITR 1. The website explains who should use which.
Select the Excel version of the form. Very importantly, enable Macros in the form. People often fail to do that because the 'Enable Macros' messaging is not very clear on the website/form. A help file that gets downloaded with the Excel form explains how to enable Macros. If Macros are not enabled, many of the required fields in the form do not perform their required functions.
Read the other instructions on the website and fill up all the mandatory fields in all the forms. Particularly ensure that you have written your PAN number correctly. Pressing the `Calculate Tax' button on the form tells you how much tax you need to pay or how much you need to be refunded (you don't need to know anything about tax rates).

If you have taxes to pay, then these can be paid online through the incometaxindia.gov.in website. Once that's done, details of the counterfoil of the tax paid challan must be entered in the Excel form that you downloaded.

Pressing the `Validate' button on top of each form tells you whether you have filled up the forms correctly. Once validated, press the `Generate XML' button on the top right of the form, and an XML version of the form gets created on your PC.

Now go once again to the e-filing website, and choose the assessment year for which you are filing (it will be AY 11-12, if you are filing for financial year 2010-11). You will be asked to register yourself, which again is a simple process. Once registered, use your login and password to login again, you will be asked to upload the XML file. The moment you upload and send it, you will have access to an ITR-V form, which is the acknowledgement form. You need to take a print out of this on a laser printer (so that the barcode on it is printed properly), you need to sign it and then send it to the Centralized Processing Center (address provided on website) by ordinary post within 120 days.

"e-filing is one of the best things to have happened," says Sunil Birla, partner in chartered accountancy firm BDO India. "You can do everything from home. No running around to income tax offices. It's possible to complete the entire process in 10-12 minutes. In our firm, what took 15 people to do now takes just 3 people."
If you file online, tax refunds will also happen much faster (within three months) than if you file paper returns. But for refunds, ensure that you fill up your address, email id and bank account details accurately. As per data provided by the Centralized Processing Center that is managed jointly by the I-T department and Infosys Technologies, more than 4.28 lakh refunds for assessment years 2009-10 and 2010-11 have not happened because of wrong address or bank account details.

Launch Your Top Sites:
To open the top sites view, open FoxTab and select [My Top Sites] from the top bar.
To add pages to the top sites panel, just press the mouse right click button on the page you would like to add and click [Add to Top Sites].

While in top sites mode, on the bottom-left corner you can find the "Edit" button.
The edit mode let you rearrange the thumbnails using a simple drag and drop gestures. You can also set the size of the top sites panel.

Opened Tabs:
To flip between the currently opened tabs, open FoxTab and select [Opened Tabs] from the top bar.

On 26 MAY 2011Google announced that it will begin imagery collection in Bangalore Nrityagram Dance Village in , and will continue capturing various parts of Bengaluru over the next few weeks for the Street View feature in Google Maps.
Google cars and trikes will begin driving and taking street level photographs of public locations around the city in INDIA

The images will be made available at a later date in Street View on Google Maps.
Street View is a popular feature of Google Maps, already available in more than 27 countries. It allows users to virtually explore and navigate a neighborhood through panoramic street-level images. It is also available on Google Maps for mobile.

India is the 28th country to have street view, the first being the US which had street view way back in 2007. Just yesterday Google had announced listing of public transport buses in Ahmedabad and Delhi in Google maps.
In countries where Street View is available, the user can access street-level imagery by zooming into the lowest level on Google Maps, or by dragging the orange “Pegman” icon on the left-hand side of the map onto a blue highlighted street.
In addition to the cars, the Google Trike – a specially designed three-wheel pedi-cab with a camera system mounted on top – will start gathering images from select locations in the area such as the Nrityagram Dance Village over the next few weeks. The Trike has already collected imagery from dozens of famed places around the world, including Stonehenge in the United Kingdom, Pompei in Italy, Legoland in California, and Versailles in France.
Lynne Fernandez, Managing Trustee, Nrityagram Dance Village said, “We are very excited to be on Street View. I understand that the Trike can go off the beaten path to photograph some of the most remote and beautiful places on earth, so anyone can explore them from anywhere. It will provide a scenic virtual view of Nrityagram and that’s the closest to actually being here!”

Google has developed technology that effectively blurs human faces and number plates of vehicles to render them unidentifiable. Street View is designed to comply with all local laws including those related to security and privacy in India.
